The Third day and over the fasting period. Now you can eat some good wholesome food.
Detox Day Three – Breakfast
Prepare the night before. Put a couple of spoonfuls of oatflakes in a cereal bowl, add a tablespoon of water and leave to soak overnight. In the morning, stir in a teaspoon of lemon juice, a spoonful of single cream and slice a banana on top.
Detox Day Three – Mid-Morning Snack
A big glass of vegetable juice. Freshly pressed if possible.
Detox Day Three – Lunch
A big mixed salad of; shredded cabbage and a selection of; dandelion leaves, grated beetroot or carrot, watercress, red, yellow or green peppers, avocado and spring onions.
Make a dressing as before, add plenty of finely chopped parsley and sprinkle with sesame seeds and pine kernels. Add a moderate portion of tuna, salmon or mackerel canned in brine or sardines canned in olive oil.
Finish with your favourite fruit; raspberries, strawberries, blackcurrants or a fresh, crisp apple.
Detox Day Three – Mid-Afternoon Snack
A glass of grapefruit and apple juice or vegetable juice or a glass of weak tea.
Detox Day Three – Main Meal
Make a large pan of Fresh Vegetable & Barley Soup enough for tonight and lunchtime tomorrow. Eat a big bowl of the soup with a chunk of crusty wholemeal bread. Follow with some dates or a small bowl of dried fruit, or a ripe pear.
Vegetable & Barley Soup Recipe:
Ingredients … You will need
- 3 sticks Celery
- 2 large carrots
- Some finely shredded cabbage
- 1 large leek
- 1 small turnip
- 2 large onions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teablespoons pot barley, well washed
- 1 litre (1.75pint) vegetable stock
- ground black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Preparation and Cooking
Clean and chop the vegetables. Use the celery leaves and stalks. Chop one onion, a little of the celery and a little leek very finely and soften in the oil in a large pan.
Add all the other ingredients. Bring to the boil, stirring well, cover and allow to simmer for 45 minutes.
Serve sprinkled with the parsley.
The end of Detox Day Three …
The fasting period is now over and now you can put some good tasty and wholesome food in your system. Food that is easy to digest and that will cleanse and enrich your body. You’ll now need to cook some things and there’s a bit of preparation involved. Make sure you make time for it in a happy, relaxed way.
